HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – from www.abcactionnews.com – One week after his 15th birthday, a high school student is charged with a third-degree felony for selling pornography on school campus.
According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a call at Hernando High School about a student possibly under the influence of an illegal substance.
When Pope arrived at the school, Assistant Principal Brent Gaustad told the deputy that he’d gotten a tip that the student was high.
Mr. Gaustad had asked the teen if he had an illegal substance and the boy confirmed that he did, and retrieved a plastic baggie with a smoking pipe that had residue on it. Authorities said the dark residue substance in the plastic baggie and the residue in the pipe tested positive for signs of THC, which is marijuana.
After searching the teen’s book bag, authorities found DVDs with pictures of naked women and men on the front.
When an officer asked him why he had the DVDs, the teen said he was selling the movies at $5 a pop at Hernando High School.
Officers made contact with a friend of the teen, who told them the suspect had a plastic baggie filled with the porn movies and asked if he wanted to buy one.
The associate told officers that he turned the suspect down.
The deputy said that there were 15 DVDs with men and women engaged in sexually explicit activity.
The teen was arrested for violating a Florida Statute that forbids sale or distribution of harmful materials to minors. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The teen was released to his legal guardian.
