Porn Valley- A scheduled airing of Deep Throat, www.xxxdeepthroat.com on Dutch public television February 23rd still has a few politicians howling at the moon- a metaphor which serves as the late Linda Lovelace’s entree into the porn business. By way of a dog, no less.

How Lovelace got involved in the Deep Throat project to begin with, is served up in several juicy chapters in the Legs McNeil & Jennifer Osborne book, The Other Hollywood.

Fred Lincoln’s recollection of Lovelace was that she was a pain in the ass and that he used to chase her away from him.

“I just did pretty girls,” comments Lincoln.

Lovelace, at the time, had shot between 10 to 15 loops for a producer named Bob Wolfe before director Gerard Damiano hired her for the movie. Lincoln recalls Wolfe’s shoots as reflective of the hippie days.

“We’d smoke a joint, we’d do acid and we’d fuck.”

Lovelace’s impression of Wolfe was that he was “fat and greasy and black haired.”

Chuck Traynor, who was married to Lovelace, remembers Wolfe asking Lovelace if she’d ball a dog.

“Sure,” Lovelace told Wolfe, according to Traynor. But Lovelace had a totally different recollection of events.

“Wolfe asked me, we’ve been thinking of making a dog movie. Would that interest you?” states Lovelace.

“I said no before I even considered the question. A dog movie? They were undoubtedly considering a girls-meets-dog movie.”

Even though she was told there’d be more money than usual, Lovelace claims she still refused.

According to Lovelace, she was told by Traynor the next morning that she’d be making the movie with the dog. Lovelace says she knew that Traynor would beat her up if she refused, but any kind of beating would be preferable to being “raped by a dog”.

Lovelace goes on to describe how the shoot took place at a studio in the East Village in New York City. Eric Edwards relates how he was also there as a participant. When Lovelace told Wolfe she didn’t want to do the loop, Wolfe’s response to her was, “I’d advise you to think that over pretty carefully.”

Lovelace claims there was a revolver sitting on a small table.

“Now are you sure you don’t’ want to make this movie?” Wolfe supposedly asked her again.

In Lovelace’s version, Traynor allegedly told her, “Take off your clothes, cunt.”

Edwards’ version is that there was no gun; no Traynor and no force. But there was a dog.

“We finished the scene,” continues Edwards. “The plot was advanced: Oh, okay, the boyfriend now leaves to go to work, and the doggie comes in to satisfy Linda.”

Of the incident Lovelace says, “I am able to handle almost anything that has happened to me in my life- but I’m still not able to handle that day. I’ve been raped by men who were no better than animals, but this was an ‘actual’ animal- and that represented a huge dividing line.”

Edwards next talks about how a guy brought in a dog which Edwards describes as maybe being a greyhound or an Afghan.

“It was a short haired dog- thin tail.”

Lovelace describes how she was supposed to act excited at the prospect of being serviced by an animal. Edwards then said he couldn’t believe what was happening.

“Linda did something that totally blew my brains out- she immediately went down on the dog.”

For her part, Lovelace claims she felt nothing but revulsion.

“She just went down on the dog,” Edwards continues. “Linda got on all fours. The dog mounted her because the dog knows that when somebody’s on all fours, bang- we know what that’s for.”

Edwards describes how the dog actually ejaculated inside of Lovelace.

“I could see the expression on the dog’s face,” he adds.

Lovelace calls the event the deepest valley she’d ever been in and wanted to die. Edwards contradicts her by saying she didn’t seem upset at all by the scene, that she reflected the free love, hippie mentality.

Lovelace maintained all along that Traynor was in the room while it happened. Traynor claims no.

“I wasn’t there,” he avows.

According to Edwards, this wasn’t the first time a dog movie had been attempted, that other dogs refused to cooperate in other loops.

“We’d try mayonnaise, we’d try hot dogs, we’d smear stuff on her pussy [a female performer], and it wouldn’t work,” relates Edwards. “But this particular dog that worked with Linda was a pro.”

Sharon Mitchell, who was there that day, attests to the fact that Lovelace wasn’t forced to do anything.

“It looked like they were forcing the dogs,” says Mitchell.

FBI agent Bill Kelly claims Lovelace did more than one bestiality movie but that he didn’t know whether to believe she made them under duress.
