from www.pennlive.com – Douglas Sversko, the former state police officer who earlier this year pleaded guilty to sending a sexually explicit video to what he thought was a 13-year-old girl was sentenced Friday to house arrest in Dauphin County Court.
Authorities said Sversko with using an Internet chat room to approach an agent who was posing as teenage girl. He was charged after he danced nude in front of his computer for the fake teen.
Sversko, charged with unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility, was sentenced to 5 years of intermediate punishment, which includes 6 months of house arrest.
As part of his sentence, he is to have no unsupervised contact with minors and must attend sex offender training. Judge Deborah Curcillo also ordered the 44-year-old to register as a sex offender.
“I realize I made a mistake, the biggest mistake of my life,” he said.
Sversko, a trooper since 1993, was assigned to Troop F headquarters in Montoursville at the time of his arrest. He retired from the state police in April, following his arrest in February.
Authorities said Sversko was the first state trooper to be arrested by the attorney general’s Child Predator Unit since it was created in January 2005.
