Farmers unhappy with Louisville’s No Nude adult ordinance

Farmers, pigs and nudity are welcome on www.adultcybermart.com

LOUISVILLE, KY from www.fox41.com – Only a week after its enforcement began, Louisville’s adult ordinance is upsetting visitors to the city.

Thousands of farmers are in town for the annual Farm Machinery Show, and some say the ordinance is preventing them from having the vacation they planned on.

The majority of the estimated three hundred thousand people who will attend this year’s show are here to check out the latest equipment, but some admit they also came to check out Louisville strip clubs. Mike Lyons traveled all the way from Maryland.

“I didn’t know about it until I come here today. If I had known this, I would have stayed home,” said Lyons.

He quickly found out that as of last week, lap dances and nudity are no longer allowed in clubs. They also must close at 1 am. Lyons says the city’s adult entertainment was a big part of the Farm Machinery Show’s draw for him.

“All the people that come talk about it, having a good time, the night life and everything like that. Get here, and it’s a big disappointment,” said Lyons.

The show is expected to generate an estimated 22 million dollars for Louisville’s economy, and a fair amount of money is often spent on adult entertainment. The clubs have likened this event to their Super Bowl, and say the loss of income this week could be really bad devastating. Locals say they’ve already noticed a difference this year.

“I know a lot of people come from out of town, want to have entertainment. It won’t be there for them any more. Business is going to dry up,” said Shepherdsville resident Shan Rigney.

“There’s been several people that have come in here, sat down and bought a drink and found out there was not going to be any nudity and said screw this, I’m leaving,” said Bullitt County resident Chris Quesenberry.

So despite the signs all over town, some farmers say the ordinance has made them feel anything but welcome.

“I couldn’t wait to get here for the entertainment, but now I wish I was still home,” said Lyons.

Some clubs have chosen to convert to ‘bikini bars.’ Dancers are wearing more clothes than the ordinance requires, and as a result, the clubs argue that they do not have to obey the other new rules.
