Farrah – “The Bank Robbing Porn Star” ; Aside from Hooking, Identity Theft, Meth Possession

Christian XXX writes on www.xxxporntalk.com: So about a month ago, I was on the lookout for an old school porn chick to shoot for Naughty America (Olivia if you must know). And she mentioned that Farrah was fresh out of prison and willing to do a scene. Bonus! I immediately shot them both in a scene and Farrah’s came out today!

Back story: Farrah aka Joy Marquart was arrested in May 2005 on charges that she impersonated real bank customers and withdrew up to $7,500 from their accounts on numerous occasions.

Wearing a striped business suit and high heels, Marquart walked into banks and presented fake ID cards that had real names of customers and her photo, authorities said.

After asking to cash a check or make a withdrawal, she talked on her cellphone during the transactions, discouraging tellers from asking questions, they said.

Her scheme worked at banks in Fair Lawn, Hackensack, Oradell, Ridgewood and Westwood, but failed when a teller at an Emerson bank noticed Marquart’s fake ID, they said.

Oradell police officials said at the time that Marquart, far from being the mastermind of this well-organized scheme, was only part of a New York City crime ring that targets bank accounts. But no other arrests have been made in connection with Marquart’s case.

Marquart, 32, pleaded guilty in Superior Court in Hackensack to theft charges in November 2005 and agreed to receive up to three years in prison. But she skipped her sentencing a few months later, prompting Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Roma to issue a fugitive warrant for her.

Marquart was picked up in California on an unrelated charge and served a 16-month sentence before she was brought back to the Bergen County Jail in October 2007.

At her sentencing Friday, defense attorney Vincent Basile told Roma that his client has learned from her troubles. Marquart “ who made some 100 movies in the late 1990s “ was accustomed to money and it took her a long time to adjust to life behind bars, he said.

“She learned how to cope and how to deal with people,” Basile said. “She has no intention of ever getting involved in any such activity.”

Roma also acknowledged Marquart’s change.

“You look more focused,” the judge said. “The last time I saw you, you seemed to be out of it.”

The plea agreement also requires Marquart to make $48,800 restitution.

from www.money.cnn.com, May, 2005: NEW YORK – The former porn star known as Farrah was busted at a Washington Mutual branch in Emerson, N.J., after allegedly scamming $40,000 from six other New Jersey banks, according to news reports.

Joy Marquart gave a teller a driver’s license with the name Olga Mendoza on it but the teller realized the license was a fake and contacted local police, the reports said .

Marquart had allegedly pulled off the identity-theft scams at banks in Emerson, Fair Lawn, Hackensack, Oradell, Ridgewood and Westwood, N.J., in recent months, Emerson Police Detective Sgt. George Buono was quoted as saying by the New York Post.

She walked away with $6,000 to $7,500 each time, he told the newspaper.

Dressed in a black pinstripe business suit and heels, Marquart allegedly used the identification, account numbers and forged IDs of real customers, according to the reports.

Marquart would either ask to cash a phony check or make a withdrawal and then talk on her cell phone during the transaction to prevent tellers from asking too many questions, the reports said.

Police believe the former porn star worked for a New York-based crime ring that specialized in looting legitimate bank accounts, reports said.

“She was walking down the street, shopping in Manhattan when these two men approached her and asked if she wanted to make some fast money, as she put it,” Buono was quoted as saying. “She isn’t the mastermind by any stretch of the imagination.”

Marquart is being held at the Bergen County Jail on charges of theft and attempted theft in lieu of $105,000 bail, according to the reports.

Marquart starred in films in the 1990s with titles such as “Farrah’s Deceptive Desires” and “Farrah’s All-Girl Adventure 2.”

from www.bergen.com, November, 2005: New Jersey- A former porn queen accused of using her acting skills to impersonate real customers and cash thousands of dollars in checks from local banks has pleaded guilty to theft charges.

Joy Marquart, a once popular adult-movie figure known in the 1990s as “Farrah,” admitted in state Superior Court in Hackensack last week that she used fake identification cards and bad checks to obtain more than $40,000 from banks in Emerson, Fair Lawn, Hackensack, Oradell and Ridgewood.

Marquart, 30, whose business suits and high heels fooled bank employees, was arrested in May when a teller in an Emerson bank noticed that her driver’s license was fake, authorities said.

Marquart pleaded guilty to third-degree theft by deception, uttering a forged document and possession of a stolen credit card. She also agreed to pay $48,800 in restitution.

Marquart faces up to three years in state prison as part of her plea agreement.

If she pays $10,000 or more of the restitution money before her sentencing on Feb. 3, however, prosecutors will recommend a maximum of one year in jail with up to five years’ probation, said Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Fred Schwanwede.

“I think it was a fair outcome, considering she has no prior convictions and has agreed to repay the money,” Schwanwede said.

Marquart’s attorney, Vincent Basile, said his client is getting support from family and friends to come up with the restitution money.

Marquart now works at temporary jobs at different offices and is looking for “legitimate jobs, trying to stay away from people in her former profession,” Basile said.

“She took full responsibility and she feels bad,” he said. “She’s not a criminal. She did something wrong and she is trying to make it whole and make it right.”

Marquart, who now lives in the Bronx, remains free on $30,000 bail.

From AP, February, 2006: Los Angeles- A former porn star who skipped her sentencing for scamming banks in Bergen County is now facing similar charges in Los Angeles, authorities said this week.

Joy Marquart, 30, was supposed to be sentenced two weeks ago in Hackensack for using fake identification and bogus checks to swipe more than $48,000 from banks in six Bergen towns. When she failed to show, a judge issued a warrant for her arrest.

Weeks before the sentencing, she had been arrested and then freed on bail on charges of forging credit cards and identification in Chatworth, Calif. Marquart also was charged with methamphetamine possession in the Jan. 10 arrest, said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Marquart’s bail had been set at $70,000, though she was likely released on a lower amount, said Deputy District Attorney Larry Diamond.

As in the New Jersey case, Marquart skipped her court date and a judge in California issued an arrest warrant, Diamond said. She was turned in to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, likely by her California bail bondsman, Diamond said.

Marquart was to be arraigned today in Los Angeles. Bergen County authorities will then have the option of extraditing her back to New Jersey, Diamond said.

Once a successful adult film actress, Marquart made as many as 100 movies under the stage name “Farrah” in the late 1990s.

When she was arrested in New Jersey in May, authorities said she had been a disarming front woman for a New York-based ring specializing in identity theft.

Using fake IDs and checks with the names of real customers, Marquart chatted with tellers while withdrawing amounts ranging from $500 to $5,600 from banks in Emerson, Fair Lawn, Hackensack, Oradell, Ridgewood and Westwood.

Last month in California, Marquart was arrested with two other men who appeared to be running a similar operation, authorities said.

Peter Julius Joseph and George Martinez Grafil were found in a Chatsworth hotel room with a computer containing financial information and credit-card forging equipment, Diamond said.

Marquart had fake identification, with her photo on it, matching the stolen information, Diamond said.

Marquart’s plea deal in New Jersey called for a reduction in her maximum sentence of three years in prison if she could make restitution of at least $10,000. Her attorney, Vinnie Basile, said Marquart, who had been living in the Bronx, had been struggling to raise money from friends and family.

Diamond said he’s surprised she was offered such a deal.

“Where do they think they’re getting their restitution?” he said. “Don’t ask for restitution from forgers.”

If convicted of the recent charges, Marquart could face about 16 months in a California state prison, which could be served concurrently if she is sentenced to prison time in New Jersey, Diamond said.
