Porn Valley- One thing’s for sure. Desiree Devine will not be at Adultcon this weekend.
Devine, who represents porn women in the BBW weight class, was told last week by the wonderful folks who bring you Adultcon that she couldn’t have a booth because she didn’t fit their weight standards.
Which is some nerve when you stop and think about it. Because the guy who runs the event- Renaud- ought to be arrested for a lack of fashion sense.
After Devine’s story went up on my website, www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=31592, Kimber James was e-mailed saying she could now attend the event.
James is a TS performer, and TS performers in general were also being barred from Adultcon. Oh, yeah. Devine also got an e-mail. She was told she and Subrina Love could now have their booth provided she come up with $200, provided it was postmarked almost immediately. In other words, Adultcon made the timeline prohibitive.
“Basically they’re saying we don’t want you there, anyway,” states Devine.
“And I could imagine how uncomfortable they would make it for us. And that’s my fear because I truly wanted to participate in the event. It’s a good venue for us to meet our fans. It’s hard enough as it is to find such events. Unfortunately Renaud is turning a good thing into a bad thing. He must not be a very good business man by banning people and being discriminatory. He’s losing money.”
And the thing is, Devine had already come up with her original $200 and has yet to get her refund, but Adultcon now wanted another $200. So Devine, who sought out attorney Michael Fattorosi, www.adultbizlaw.com on the issue, is basically telling Adultcon to kiss her big round ass because she wouldn’t participate anyway.
“Their policy still hasn’t changed,” notes Devine.
“And they haven’t made any kind of announcement that it’s changed. It’s still on their website. They haven’t done anything. It’s like they’re blowing us off.”
Because she has an interactive blog, Devine knows that she had fans who already bought tickets and were planning to see her.
“I’ve never faced this kind of peer discrimination before,” adds Devine who has other friends in the business who continually refuse to go to the show because of Renaud’s bullying antics.
“Anybody out there has a fan base,” Devine continues. “If you’re a human being there’s going to be somebody who appreciates you for who you are. So Adultcon’s eliminating a huge potential for customers. Does he not see that this could be a better event for everybody to be able to participate?”
Devine also makes another good point.
“The BBW community is small but it’s growing,” she says.
“There hasn’t been a lot of recognition for us even though it’s a growing industry. Some people realize there’s money in it, in the big girls. When you think about it over 70% of the US is overweight. How could there not be money in it? People are realizing it. Vivid’s realizing it. A lot of other companies are realizing it.”
