PLEASANTON, Ca- As a result of prostie ads placed on Craigslist, seven people have been arrested in a sting operation at a local motel, police said.
Police began the one-day crackdown after being notified by community members about Internet sites displaying sexually explicit advertisements.
Five women and two men were arrested at the Motel 6 on Hopyard Avenue between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday. The women were arrested on suspicion of soliciting prostitution and the men for allegedly aiding a prostitute.
The women arrested are Michelle Benson, 26, of Castro Valley; Aevra Traylor, 21, of Oakland; Emiloa Rodriguez, 35, of San Francisco; Erin Bernsten, 22, of Emeryville; Advertisement and Alyssa Evans, 24, of Alameda.
The men are Ray Jackson III, 30, of Richmond; and Avoni Lindsay, 27, of Berkeley.
A team of officers launched the operation targeting local women who allegedly advertised sexual services on Craigslist and My Red Book.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office would not comment.
