WESTPORT. Connecticut — from www.thehour.com – A Staples High School freshman football coach gave his players the password to a porn site during a locker room conversation about masturbation, and the players chanted the password on the bus after defeating Fairfield Ward in early November, a newly released affidavit reveals.
Mike Pickering, 40, of 31 Bartlett Ave., Norwalk, allegedly gave his players the password to the Brazzers — a website that contains pornography — after hearing the players joke that a teammate skipped practice to masturbate, according to the affidavit.
Pickering, the former offensive line coach for Staples High School freshman football team, was arrested Thursday for three counts of risk of injury to a minor. He posted $50,000 bond and will be arraigned Nov. 28 at Norwalk Superior Court.
The investigation into Pickering’s alleged illicit actions began when a female freshman overheard two freshmen football players talking about getting the password to the porn site, according to the affidavit.
The female freshman told a social worker about the overheard conversation on Monday, and the social worker relayed the information to Assistant Principal James Farren, the affidavit alleges.
Farren interviewed various freshman football players and found out that Pickering had given the players the password — ItsAllGravy2 — so that the players could watch full-length porn videos instead of 30-second clips, court documents state.
One student told Farren that the team chanted “It’s all gravy” on the bus ride home from Fairfield after defeating Fairfield Ward, and Pickering joined in on the chant, police said.
Pickering was placed on leave on Tuesday after telling the head freshman football coach that he gave the students the password, according to police.
On Wednesday morning, an e-mail was received by the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau asking information about a Staples High School football coach who had provided players with access codes to a pornographic website, according to Westport Police.
The Westport Board of Education was contacted and provided police with information that they had received a complaint that an assistant coach of the freshman football team was alleged to have given members of the team the password to a pornographic website. All pertinent information was given to investigating detectives.
