from www.seattlepi.com – A Silverdale man was arrested for fraud and lying to deputies after reporting a forged check that he really used to pay for sex.
He made up the story and claimed his house was burglarized because his wife found the record of the check, according to reports.
The 21-year-old man and his 20-year-old wife called the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office March 9 to report harassing phone calls, according to reports. The woman said she received a call from another woman who yelled at her and demanded her money. She also said she and her husband were victims of a possible burglary and checks were stolen. The man said he discovered the theft when a $200 check, made out to a 33-year-old Central Kitsap woman, was posted to their banking account.
The next day, deputies contacted the woman named in the check. She said she cleaned the man’s apartment for $200, but found the check was later canceled. She then admitted that she met the man last summer and has had sex with him twice. Their most recent encounter was Feb. 15, when the man, a shuttle driver in the Navy, picked her up in a Navy van and they “messed around” in the back of the vehicle. She admitted calling the man’s house, but didn’t know he was married.
Later in the day, the man admitted to deputies he found the woman via an escort service and said he changed his signature on the check to make it look like a fraudulent check. His wife said she filed for divorce.
The man was arrested for unlawful issuance of a check and lying to law enforcement. The Navy Master-at-Arms at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor told deputies the man would be under investigation for waste, fraud, and abuse for the inappropriate use of a government vehicle.
