Ohio- Shala Logan said a Columbia Gas worker who came into her home to reconnect the gas service got a little sidetracked on a recent visit – to pornographic Web sites on her computer.
Not only did the employee pull up pornographic pictures, she said, he also printed them out on her printer.
“It almost felt that we had been violated, like our whole house had been violated,” the Point Place mother of three young children said.
Nearly two weeks after the Aug. 12 incident at her Oldenburg Drive home, arrest warrants were issued for the employee in Toledo Municipal Court. Kirk Yates, 40, of 714 Brighton Ave., was charged with petty theft and criminal trespass. He was not in custody last night.
Mr. Yates is no longer employed by Columbia Gas, spokesman Ray Frank said. He declined to expand on Mr. Yates’ employment. He said it is company policy not to discuss employee actions or records. Mr. Frank said the company is conducting an internal investigation, and said it takes “these types of matters very, very seriously.”
Court records claim Mr. Yates logged onto Mrs. Logan’s computer, accessed several porn sites, and printed out pornographic pictures on her printer. Sgt. George Kral said the images were of adults.
Mrs. Logan, 32, said she arranged for the company to come into her home to reconnect the gas service. She locked up her dog and left the front door open while she ran errands with her children. When she returned, her daughters ran downstairs. She saw the employee go into her laundry room, which attaches to her office. When she saw him, he was “just sweating and nervous” and was talking about the hot water tank.
Mrs. Logan noticed her computer monitor was off and turned it on. That’s when her 8-year-old daughter said, “There’s naked people on your computer.”
“I said, ‘Oh my gosh,’ ” the medical transcriptionist said, then told her daughter to leave after she found a second window opened to a porn site.
Mrs. Logan said she found five more windows opened to porn sites. In all, she said, hundreds of sites were visited, one of which gave her computer a virus.
