Gauge Voices Metro Promo Issues

The growing unrest between Gauge and her contract company Metro revealed a little more of itself this past Friday night on Gauge’s KSEX show, Distorted Reality. Gauge is unhappy with the way she’s been promoted and voiced many of those concerns. “I’ve to get some of the shit off my chest,” she told Quasarman who seemed pretty capable of egging her on.
Gauge said she won’t be doing her show next week because Metro has her signing on the east coast. Her originally scheduled dates were Tuesday (tomorrow) until Sunday but Metro, according to Gauge, gave her last minute notice about extending her tour another seven days. “I like to have notice and they haven’t sent me my itinerary,” she said. “I like to know where I’m going so I can tell the fans where to come see me.”

In another issue, Gauge said that Metro had her scheduled for a store signing at Romantics in Oxnard [California] for three days. Gauge said after driving there she learned that there was no promo, nothing for her to sign. “No 8 by 10’s- nothing; no promotional stuff at all so my time there was wasted.” Quasarman noted that someone at Metro had obviously dropped the ball. “Somebody left me hanging and nobody called me back,” Gauge agreed.

“What you’re saying is that things aren’t all that rosy with Metro right now?” Quasarman asked. Gauge said that Janey the publicist over there has been overextended. “She’s doing a lot of promotion on Britney Foster and Bridgette [Kerkove]. They were doing Howard Stern and all that kind of jazz. Overextended, whatever, that’s not my problem- they send me somewhere, they should have my stuff there. And I should be promoted properly and I don’t feel like I’m being promoted. That’s why I’m here doing my show, promoting myself.”

Quasarman said he sensed a lot of rage in her. Gauge said it was a hectic week and noted that her boyfriend also crashed his truck. “Some idiot pulled right out in front of him and totally taco’ed the car. The truck’s gone and he went to the hospital.” Besides that Gauge said she had to deal with DMV all day Friday, switching from an Arkansas license to a California one. Gauge said that made her want to slit her wrist with a butter knife.

On the Metro issue, Gauge said she feels she’s in limbo right now. “I’m very upset because I want to tell my fans to come see me. I’m going to do a signing without proper promotion and my fans are, like, ‘Gauge, we didn’t know you were going to be here.’ Well, that’s not my fault because I signed a contract and they have a publicist to do that for me to publicize where I’m going to be so my fans can come see me. And so I can also sell my Polaroids, calendars and whatever I have to sell to make money.”

Asked if she didn’t feel that a star of her stature was being treated shoddily, Gauge said yes she did. “The point is I’m a bigger name than some of the girls besides Bridgette,” she said. “They’re doing a lot of promotion on Britney Foster and she’s not doing her scenes any more. And Metro’s saying her fans would rather see her as a director than talent.

“When somebody does five movies you don’t have a big fan base,” Gauge went on to say. “I’ve been there and done that a long time ago. I feel like I should be promoted- not as much- but more than her. I have my name and I bring a lot of attention towards Metro because everybody knows I am a Metro contract girl. And I do have a big fan base. I’m sort of like feeling like they want me to drop off the face of the earth in the chat rooms and everything else. Any website that you look up, it looks like I’m dying.” By the same token, Gauge said she wants to be in charge in the next movies that she does.

“I want my own series,” she says. “I want to be able to do what I want to do. Because every time I show up on the set I usually change where we’re going to do it, what we’re going to say, how we’re going to do this to what I feel comfortable with. I’m not going have some Joe Schmo say, ‘hey Mr. Pizzaman.’ I’m not going to do that.”

Quasarman said he could see this as a Fox segment: Gauge vs. Metro- time it’s personal. Gauge said she hasn’t said anything publicly that he hasn’t already said to Metro privately. Gauge said none of this is personal but she has to look out for number one. Asked by Quasarman if she could get out of her contract or if it entails having her legs broken, Gauge said Metro knows she would walk though it hasn’t come to a head- yet.
