Michael Strahan dared a NY Post reporter to put the following story on the front page. The Post took up the challenge.
New York- Giants sack king Michael Strahan pulled a seamy stealth move off the field over Mother’s Day weekend – bringing in his Canadian “Cupcake” for a hush-hush weekend rendezvous.
As the grid star’s wife took care of their twin baby girls just a stone’s throw away in New Jersey, Strahan secretly swept into La Guardia Airport on Friday to pick up Nicole D’Oliveira – the woman he has adamantly denied is his mistress – for a Gotham get-together.
D’Oliveira, whom Strahan calls by the pet name “Cupcake,” has been accused of having an affair with the football star in divorce papers filed by his wife, Jean.
Jean Strahan claims her hubby abandoned her and their newborns shortly after a string of trysts with D’Oliveira this past winter.
In what Jean Strahan’s pals call the height of gall, her estranged husband finally bade goodbye to his shapely gal pal yesterday – and then showed up on her doorstep to take their 6-month-old girls for a few hours.
When he left with the kids, a teary-eyed Jean learned D’Oliveira had been in town and broke down, immediately canceling plans with a friend to go out for a Mother’s Day lunch.
“I can’t believe he’d bring her here. I thought he wasn’t seeing her,” the stricken wife said. “I feel so upset right now, I can’t even think.”
She declined further comment, citing a court gag order.
One of her pals, who was at the house to take her friend to lunch, hugged her, saying, “I think she’s in shock.”
“We wanted to take her out. We didn’t want her to be alone on her first Mother’s Day,” the friend said. “But now she’s too upset.”
“She spent the whole morning getting the girls ready to go out with their dad, bathing them and dressing them in new little velvet outfits. She wanted them to look pretty,” the pal added.
Michael Strahan, approached by a reporter as he dropped off his kids later, angrily snapped when asked about his personal airport pickup service.
“Please, put it on the front cover” of The Post, he said sarcastically.
“If you have friends, male or female, you continue seeing them. But no, [the paper] wants to make it like I’m picking up someone for a rendezvous.”
Pressed about his relationship with D’Oliveira, he only added, “Don’t make any assumptions.”
He then took a thinly veiled snipe at his wife.
“There’s too many eyes and ears – how do you know my visitation schedule?” he demanded.
“I may be a big football player, and everyone may think I’m some type of ogre, but we’re not quite stupid enough . . . Everyone knows what she’s trying to do.”
D’Oliveira was initially spotted by a reporter as she sneaked into La Guardia on a late-night American Airlines flight from her Toronto hometown Friday.
She then made a call from her cellphone from the baggage claim and walked out the door, teetering awkwardly on her stilettos and hauling a suitcase.
When a black Cadillac Escalade pulled up to the curb, Strahan himself flung open the door, and D’Oliveira jumped in.
Yesterday, Strahan spirited D’Oliveira out of New York as quietly as she came in.
Spotted by The Post as she checked in at the airport for her return on a morning flight yesterday, D’Oliveira tried to hide behind a pair of massive sunglasses while making a round of frantic calls on her cellphone.
Clearly flustered, she convinced American Airlines staffers to personally escort her toward her gate.
