New Bern, North Carolina- The next time Greg Sakas goes to court is anyone’s guess.
In a game of conflicting schedules on both sides, Pure Bliss owner Sakas’ attorneys have told officials that Sakas can’t make a court date of November 28. Meanwhile the state’s attorney general had to appoint a judge to hear Sakas’ case because it had become a political hot potato involving the Christian Coalition.
Sakas, whose stores were raided twice this year and is facing third degree misdemeanor charges, says the opposition has been feeling “pretty sassy” with all his talk of lawsuits and nothing being filed. However, Sakas says someone’s going to be in for a big surprise.
“By next week we should have the lawsuit in place,” says Sakas.
“Every time we talk I’m seeing more dollars,” adds Sakas, regarding his case which began with a police raid January of this year. “It’s like a cash register staying open instead of closed.”
Sakas now has attorneys from Paul Cambria’s firm representing him but what is delaying matters is another obscenity case going on in Virginia right now involving Rick Krial. Cambria’s firm is also representing Krial and After Hours Video.
“That’s a big case and we’re getting calls from the press concerning that,” states Sakas who also has a store the next town over from Staunton, Virginia.
“I told everybody in that store that they’re not to make any comments to the press. We don’t want a problem there, either.”
At the same time, Sakas couldn’t be happier with the representation he’s been getting from Cambria’s firm.
“I really believe that the lawyers I got do care about me as a person besides from the standpoint of me being a client,” Sakas comments. “They’re been really super. They go the extra mile. I wouldn’t trade them for anything as far as the First Amendment. If I had to have any attorneys in this country for First Amendment I wouldn’t consider going to anyone else but them. I would recommend them very highly.”
Sakas also tells me that a Christian Creme Doughnut shop has also opened in New Bern.
