They might want to consider Pure Bliss owner Greg Sakas who’s been fighting the lone fight in New Bern, North Carolina in what’s become one of the most outrageous assaults on justice and free speech since the early days of Civil Rights.
Sakas’ store was raided by police twice last year; and after a year and a half of stonewalling, red tape and police harassment, he finally gets his day in court with a non-jury trial starting Friday.
“We’ve got our ducks in a row and I really don’t see us losing this,” states Sakas.
“And their star witness who supposedly knows everything and was my ex-manager at the store- we’ve got a surprise for her tomorrow. She’ll be lucky if we don’t press charges against her. Apparently the governor appointed a judge for this trial. And from what I understand, he’s a pretty fair guy. But anything can happen.”
Sakas says if he wins this case, things will look pretty good in the lawsuit he’s got against the city of New Bern and its police department which goes to court next month.
“We’re ready to go and we’re feeling very good and very comfortable.”
According to Sakas, many city officials in the case are now back peddling and telling different stories to cover their butts.
“Everyone is worried about how this will all shake out,” he adds. “We’ve got the city attorney, we’ve got the inspectors, the fire marshal; we’ve got all these people who knew exactly what we had in the store. They saw all the product, and it’s not like there were any surprises. But you still have a judge instead of a jury that has to rule on this. However we feel more comfortable with this state-appointed judge than the elected judges in that area who are afraid of the Christian Coalition.”
