WASHINGTON PARK, Illinois — A guard for Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club accidentally shot himself early Saturday and died, said police Detective Kim McAfee.

Steven Harris of Cahokia was in a van in the club parking lot about 12:30 a.m. with a woman who told police that Harris took out his gun and she asked him to put it away. When he did, he somehow accidentally shot himself in the chest. Harris, in his 30s, did not have a valid firearm ID owner’s card, which is required to possess a gun in Illinois.
