Los Angeles- Hooters is being sued by five women who charge they were secretly taped while undressing.
The women had applied for waitress jobs at the site of a new restaurant — and were told they had to put on the Hooters’ trademark skimpy uniform.
The women allege the manager of a suburban Los Angeles Hooters set up a camera to photograph them in a construction trailer while they were changing.
The lawsuit claims the Atlanta-based chain was negligent in its supervision of the manager.
In February, authorities raided a trailer at the restaurant construction site and seized a computer holding 180 digital videos of women.
A Hooters spokesman said the company hasn’t seen the lawsuit but iscooperating with the police investigation.
On, the group talked to the media, along with their attorney , Gloria Allred. Allred won’t say the amount her clients are seeking in this lawsuit, only that it is significant.
“When I found out I was in shock. You hear about these type of things happening in the news and you don’t think it’s going to happen to you, ” said Elizabeth Navarette, an alleged victim.
“This whole situation has put me through every emotion I have ever experienced. I’m deeply hurt and upset. I have feelings of disgust and disappointment,” said Scheana Jancan.
“I’m disgusted that just in the way I was violated. My privacy was invaded without my consent,” said Brittani Moore.
“They have a right to expect, even though it’s Hooters, that they will not have their privacy invaded. They will not be sexually harassed,” Allred said.
Investigators believe there are as many as 80 other victims.
