from www.actionnewsjax.com – JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A local professor accused of having sex with a minor is in even more trouble with the law.
Action News has been digging into Sheree Lacy’s employment history and has just learned that she worked as an adjunct professor until May 2012 at FSCJ while the alleged sexual relationship was happening. Lacy also taught at Sandalwood High School until November 2011.
Felony offender and inmate; these are the damaging labels attached to the former psychology professor’s name.
Before 32-year-old Sheree Lacy was arrested for allegedly having intercourse and oral sex with a 17-year-old boy, the educator was called “funny and knowledgeable.”
One student even called Lacy “hot” on ratemyprofessor.com.
“She acted professional, she was actually, I thought, a bit reserved,” said Zach Taylor.
Action News tracked down one of her students. Zach Taylor tells us Lacy was his scuba diving instructor, and that their class went on a weekend dive trip to Savannah last year.
“This is Sheree right here and we all became Facebook friends afterwards,” explained Taylor as he showed a picture of the dive group to Action News.
He says has hasn’t had contact with the mother of two since that trip, and was surprised after we broke the news to him.
In April 2012, Lacy turned herself in to the sex crime unit to face charges. According to a JSO report, she says the medication she was on made her sexually aroused.
“It’s shocking to hear that anyone you know, doing something you think would be out of character. It’s not something that I would have thought would have been in character for her,” said Taylor.
Lacy pleaded guilty to child abuse, and was sentenced to 18 months probation.
The State Attorney’s Office tells Action News she is accused of violating that probation, for allegedly contacting the victim. We found out the victim happens to live in her neighborhood.
Lacy was in court Monday morning, and is now behind bars.
