CHULA VISTA, Calif.—A San Diego elementary school teacher has been acquitted of charges that she had sex with her underage godson.

Jurors in state court in Chula Vista deliberated about four hours before finding 33-year-old Carmina Erica Lopez not guilty Monday on 10 counts of committing a lewd act on a minor and one count of furnishing marijuana to a minor.

Her godson, now 16, testified that she molested him while he was in sixth grade and that they had sex 40 to 50 times after that.

Lopez testified that the boy raped her in 2007 and threatened to accuse her of molesting him if she said anything. She has been on paid leave as a fifth-grade teacher pending the outcome of the case.
