“I Think Jason Sechrest is One of the Best Porn-Scene Interviewers in the Business”

Bob C. writes: Hi Gene,

First of all, I’d just like to say that I have always enjoyed your editorials and on-the-scene stories about KSEX personalities and their shows. You are almost always dead-on in your analysis, and I love the way you don’t pull any punches, even with people you like and respect.

That said, I find it curious that in all your recent articles about the current fall of KSEX, you haven’t once mentioned Jason Sechrest, or his Jason Curious personna, and how he might fit into the whole scenario.

Frankly, I have always admired Jason, and have tried to watch his shows as often as I can. Whether straight or gay, or anywhere in-between, his guests are usually quite interesting, sometimes outrageous, and always amusing, in my opinion. I think Jason is one of the best porn-scene Interviewers in the business, too. His interviews shed a very clear light on all aspects of the adult industry.

I hope you discuss his possible role in all that’s been happening, or even his reactions to it. I’m sure it would be an eye-opener!

Thanks for reading, Bob C.

Gene sez: I couldn’t agree with you more about Jason, and I’ve told him as much. Maybe in the same words. I think Jason like everyone else still over at KSEX is sitting back and watching the drama unfold. And there’s way more to come. KSEX seems to have adopted a very expensive pay-to-play policy, and I don’t think this is going to go over too well in the current porn industry economy. Or with the pornjocks who’ll be required to bring in revenue streams, albeit for a cut. So we’ll see.

I guess it depends how truly valuable KSEX is to Jason, personally. It’s his call. Being his own unique cottage industry, KSEX needs Jason far more than Jason needs KSEX. Another point to bear in mind is that Jason represents the KSEX old guard from the Wankus/Lorrainiac days, and I don’t know how well he’ll deal with a new management team. Because the way I see it, there’s going to be lots of scrambling for ego space.
