Buchanan is credited with having directed a film titled Captain Lust and the Pirate Women which Pistol has in his archives and is anxious to release- legally. Not knowing Beau Buchanan from Beau Bridges, I suggested that maybe Bill Margold might know the answer. Margold had information on the film up to a certain point but is at a loss as to Buchanan’s present status on the planet.

Margold tells me the movie was made in 1976 in conjunction with the Bicentennial. “I believe it was shot in New York Harbor during that time,” says Margold. Besides Jamie Gillis being in the film, Margold suspects that Wade Nichols might also be in it, as is Sharon Mitchell.

“It’s a pretty big film,” says Margold. “A lot of the superstars of the east coast would have been in it at that point in time. Henri Pachard would probably know more about it than anyone else because he was still there on the east coast.”

Margold’s guess was that Jamie Gillis might also lend a clue but hasn’t been in touch with Gillis for awhile. “Jamie is very elusive, as well as getting all these people involved in any way shape or form, thinking about the past.”

On Margold’s wish list of invitees are Lisa De Leeuw and Debi Diamond. “We don’t know where these people are,” he says. “Or Constance Money. But DeLeeuw would be a treat to get to Las Vegas. It’s going to be fun but I don’t know who the final five[inductees] are. I’ve offered Tracey Adams an opportunity. She’s offered to do it if her schedule’s not conflicting with other situations more family-oriented.” Noting that her mother died recently, Margold was told that Adams has been going to Baltimore to take care of her father.

“I’m not sure she’ll be able to make it in time, but she wants Jerry Butler to put her in. And I’ve got to try and track him down. To me he’s the most talented actor in he history of the business. A lot of these are very reclusive, very shy people who will not accept their immortality. I’m also going after [Larry] Flynt. I’ve sent letter after letter but I don’t get a response. He deserves to be in the Legends. But that’s his choice. He put me in front of his store. I figure I can put him in Pistol’s cement.”
