WWW- At 26 years old, Mukhtar Safarov is the brightest star in the business today. Yielding from the former communist regime of Russia, born from a Russian mother and Brazillian father, Mukhtar’s multi-racial mix has proved to be the apex at which he has rocketed seemlessly over the past years. Head hunted at age 19 in a straight nightclub in Moscow, Russia, Mukhtar began his career modeling for Russian agency, ‘Fashion Models’, before being signed by New York’s ‘Boss Models’. After establishing international recognition and a portfolio to rival his world leading female counterparts, Mukhtar was invited to begin starring in films within the sex industry, and this is where his career started to evolve, creating the complex, sensitive and admired man who sits before me now, on this cloudy Wednesday afternoon, in a cafe at The Dam, Central Amsterdam, for an exclusive interview: The man behind the image plastered throughout sex shops, adult video retailers and internet sites globally.
Ordering freshly squeezed orange juice and taking a Davidoff cigarette from his packet, he smiles at me from underneath a Nike baseball cap. Admitting he was heading to the gym and apologising for the previous days of internet and phone tag, where my work schedule, and his tightly tuned program, while in Holland, seemed not to interwind.
The unexpected humanity, honesty and intimacy in which Mukhtar shared his life story and background was similar to chatting with an old school friend.
Although Mukhtar admits working on gay porn productions is unfulfilling and is only attractive due to the salary, he is pleased, nonetheless, that his talent and ambition has built him a solid base to travel and perform throughout the world; dancing, stripping and go-going his way to some of the most exclusive and legendary clubs and parties on the ‘circuit’ to date.
It’s not easy. All I look forward to is settling down and staying in one place with somebody who can accept, understand and love me for myself and not my image.
It may appear a glamorous lifestyle; being flown around the globe to take off your clothes and film porn, but the reality is, many hours are spent working with irritable colleagues, demanding producers, checking in and out of 5 star hotels and of course there’s marketing and dealing with your agency.
Most guys are all about sex; nothing deeper, no respect or cherishing of intimacy or togetherness.
Being a bisexual porn star and photographic model, Mukhtar prefers the company of women opposed to gay men.
