El Dorado, Kansas- from www.ksm.com – A jury has found Israel Mireles guilty of first-degree capital murder in the 2007 killing of Butler County College student Emily Sander.

The jury deliberated for just more than an hour Friday afternoon before reaching its decision that Mireles was in fact the person who raped and killed Sander in his motel room in November 2007 after the two met that night at a bar in El Dorado.

The jury also found him guilty of rape and sodomy.

The judge revoked his bond, believing Mireles is both a risk to the community and a flight risk. He will remain locked up until his sentencing on March 31st.
