PULLMAN, Washington — The suspect wanted in connection with a rape at a WSU sorority last week has hired a Spokane attorney and says he plans to return to Pullman to clear his name.

“I’m going to be in police custody in 24 hours,” Jack Reid [aka Jack Venice] said in a brief phone interview Tuesday.

On Monday, police named Reid, 25, the second suspect wanted in the case, issuing a nationwide search warrant for Reid.

Reid, who works as an adult film actor who goes by the pseudonym “Jack Venice”, was contacted Monday night by KXLY4 Reporter Erik Loney through his MySpace page and Reid called Loney on his cellphone late Monday evening, saying that he had been too drunk last Thursday night to remember what happened.

Reid added that as an adult film actor, he gets paid to have sex with women and would therefore have no reason to rape anyone. Reid has appeared in more than 80 adult movies and has appeared in several adult videos where he propositions women he encounters for sex to appear in his video.

It’s unknown if he was in Pullman shooting one of those videos and police would not speculate as to why he was in town.

Reid has hired Spokane attorney Chris Bugbee, whose website identifies him as a former major crimes prosecutor who specializes in a variety of services including defending sexual crimes case, and has announced his intent to return to Washington State.

“He’s going to turn himself in,” Attorney Chris Bugbee said. “He has nothing to hide at this point he’s certainly not hiding from these charges.”

While he currently lives in Los Angeles and even though he’s said he intends to return to Washington State, Reid’s whereabouts are unknown.

“He might be heading towards Canada,” Pullman Mayor Glenn Johnson speculated Monday evening. “He may be coming back from Canada. He still might be in western Washington. We don’t know. At this point, we have an arrest warrant that’s being issued for him and that will have a number of agencies looking for him.”

Reid is facing charges of 2nd Degree Rape, 1st Degree Burglary, two counts of residential burglary, and one count of attempted burglary. Bond has been set at $200,000.

Since he was first contacted by the media and his hiring of Chris Bugbee as his attorney, Reid’s MySpace profile was switched from public to private. A check late Tuesday afternoon revealed his profile had been deleted.

He is described as being 5’8″, 150 pounds with green eyes, blond hair and a buzz cut. He has a tattoo of a solid triangle on the back of his neck and also a tattoo that displays an ammunition belt around his right thigh.

Meanwhile the second suspect in the case, Kyle Schott, was arrested last Friday in Pullman. Schott is a 23-year-old Washington State University student from western Washington.

His bail had been set originally at $20,000 Monday morning – which Schott posted – however the judge raised the bond to $100,000 during a late Monday afternoon hearing in Colfax, stating that the suspect was a threat as both a repeat offender and as someone who might leave town.

Schott posted bail again Monday night.

He is facing charges of 1st Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Rape for an attack on a woman along with Reid at the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority on September 13th.

In addition to the charges from the Kappa Alpha Theta attack, Schott has been charged with two counts of residential burglary and one count of attempted burglary in relation to break-ins at the Pi Beta Phi house at 825 NE Linden and the Delta Gamma house at 715 NE Linden, which police said took place after the sexual attack.

During Monday’s hearing the judge ordered that Schott is prohibited from being within a half mile of any sorority, fraternity or dormitory and is forbidden to have any contact with the victim. While he is out on bail he has also been told not to leave the state, cannot possess firearms or consume alcohol and must remain at home with his mother in Renton.

Schott’s arraigment has been scheduled for September 21st.
