Porn Valley- In my years of writing I’ve discovered two things. Some writers can’t write, but even more readers can’t read. Not to mention listeners not being able to listen. Such was a point proven on KSEX, www.ksexradio.com, Thursday night.

Kylie Ireland who hosts the 9 PM slot at the station elected to comment on a news story posted on adultfyi.com this week https://adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=5404 in which Jenna Jameson states in her book, How To Make Love Like a Porn Star, that Ireland had given Jenna a case of strep throat on the set of Smells Like Sex.

Jameson said she almost died as a result of a bad reaction to an antibiotic. Giving her account of things, Ireland remembered the whole incident quite differently. So different, in fact, that someone in the chat room, who most likely hasn’t even read the book, was prompted to write that Kylie proved Gene Ross wrong. Outside of the fact that Ireland proved nothing except offer a different slant of the situation, no one was proved wrong about any thing. I merely reported what Jameson had to say. And here’s her exact quote:

“I called the other girls from the movie and told them that someone on set had given me strep throat. And it turned out that Kylie knew exactly who that person was: herself,” Jameson writes.

Conceptually, I don’t see what’s so difficult to grasp about this situation. Ireland, of course, is certainly entitled to rebuttal, and rebut she did. During a commercial break, someone from the chat room had asked Ireland if she read the book. Although she hadn’t, it was from this exchange that Ireland had learned about Jameson’s comments.”Which is so fucking backwards!” exclaimed Ireland. “I’m like this is so wrong.” Ireland claims she’s given her side of the story in “dozens and dozens” of interviews. Ireland claims that Jameson had already brought germs to the table in the shooting of the movie. “She was so sick- she had a fever even before we shot the scene.”

[I was covering that shoot, which was at a house in Malibu, and Jameson, unless she’s a really great actress, gave no indication that she was under the weather.]

Ireland remembers everything occuring in a kitchen – which is entirely correct – with her, Jameson and Felicia participating. Ireland, however couldn’t come up with the guy’s name. “Some guy,” said Ireland. “I can’t remember who the guy was.” Someone in chat had to prompt her with a cue card that it was Vince Voyeur. But you would imagine with the dozens of retellings of this story as Ireland alleges, that Vince’s name would have been imbedded in her mind by now.

“Before we shot the scene, she [Jameson] was upstairs in this mansion we’re shooting in,” Ireland went on to relate. “She was soaking in a hot bath and she was really feeling crappy: ‘No, I can do it, I can do it.’ And we all walked away from that set with strep throat. If it says in her book that Kylie Ireland gave her strep throat then she is sorely mistaken because she gave it to me.

“I was healthy at that shoot,” Ireland insisted. “Either that or someone gave it to us. Now I’m not saying that she’s lying…I’m going on heresay here, but I want to put that record straight. I was healthy when I came to that shoot and, like a couple of days later, I was really sick.” Lorrainiac, who was Ireland’s co-host for the evening, made an excellent point. “If someone was that sick- let’s say I did porn- if somebody was that sick I’m not even coming in your house or near your house.”

Ireland said she’s done lots of movies where she’s been sick. “It’s because they would kill you if you didn’t show up. They think you’e flaking if you’re sick.”

Ireland, offering medical diagnosis, said that Jameson was in the early stages of whatever she was in. “She was cold, she had chills. Obviously she was coming down with it.” Lorrainiac said it sounded a lot worse than a cold. Ireland said the shoot was a big deal, being an AVN production. “All the big stars had been gathered together for it. It’s just bizarre.” Lorrainiac still couldn’t believe that a porn director [in this case Ben Dover] would plow ahead instead of halting the shoot in an attempt to have his cast looking pretty and nice and into the scene.

Ireland said there are a lot of directors who fly in the face of such excuses as being thin attempts to get out of a scene because other reasons may have been involved. Ireland said a similar instance occurred on the KSEX shoot when a girl went out partying. “She called in sick.”
