Los Angeles- “Girls Gone Wild” producer Joe Francis yesterday faced down a burglary suspect who allegedly forced Francis to make an X-rated tape – and then sat through an embarrassing two-minute snippet shown in court.
Francis, the 32-year-old multimillionaire and brainchild of the late-night-advertised videos, identified defendant Darnell Riley during a preliminary hearing in front of Superior Court Judge Bernard Kemper.
“It’s that guy . . . 100 percent,” Francis said, pointing at Riley, who wore jail garb and sat between his lawyers.
Prosecutors must show there’s enough evidence to hold Riley for trial on burglary, robbery, carjacking, kidnapping and attempted-extortion charges.
Francis recounted the terrifying early-morning hours of Jan. 22, 2004, when he came home from a night of clubbing and found a masked gunman. Francis testified the assailant ordered him face down on the floor and tied him up.
After stealing $1,100 cash from Francis’ wallet and taking his Rolex, the gunman said he wanted more money, the witness said.
“I need $100,000 cash, or you’re going to die,” the attacker said, according to Francis.
