Joy King Speaks In Sacramento As Wicked Sponsors The Free Speech Legislation Reception

LOS ANGELES, CA – As pundits from every shade of the political spectrum continue to weigh in on the deepening economic woes facing our nation, a political discourse of a radically different stripe is quietly unfolding today in Sacramento, California.

Veteran adult industry executive and Wicked Pictures VP of Special Projects Joy King is joining forces with other industry representatives to visit members of the California Legislature. Together, King and other luminaries of erotica are taking part in the 12th Annual CELEBRATE FREE SPEECH LOBBYING DAYS, a yearly initiative organized by the Free Speech Coalition that has become the model for mutually beneficial cooperation and education between the government and the adult industry.

Representatives from all areas of the adult business are in attendance to answer questions and provide interviews. In addition to esteemed industry professionals like King, members of the Free Speech Coalition are on hand to discuss important issues and bills currently facing the adult entertainment industry, including controversial AB 1082, which would authorize a tax against any material deemed “harmful” by government lawmakers.

The Motion Picture Academy of America (MPAA) is also speaking out against this proposed legislation, as the current language of the bill could be applied to much R-rated entertainment as well.

The day’s events will culminate tonight with the highly anticipated Free Speech Legislation Reception sponsored by Wicked Pictures, during which lawmakers, staff, and advocates will socialize over drinks and refreshments with member of the adult community and have an opportunity to discuss issues facing the industry in a more relaxed, informal atmosphere.

King is justifiably proud to be once again spearheading Wicked’s involvement with this worthy cause, observing, “Lobbying on behalf of the industry is an extremely gratifying experience every year. And considering the uncertain economic times we all find ourselves in, I am especially proud that Wicked Pictures is still willing to devote the resources needed to sponsor the Free Speech Legislation Reception. I feel it’s more important than ever for our industry’s concerns to be heard at the State Capitol.”
