Australia- from www.thedaily.com.au – A Kunda Park street could establish itself as a red light district if a proposed adult club is given the green light.

Brothel owner Paris Satine wants to build the club next door to her existing business, Scarlet Harem, on Avian Street.

Ms Satine, who owns the block of land where she wants to establish the club, said she had been in negotiations with Sunshine Coast Council for the past 18 months.

She said Kunda Park was the ideal location for the 100-seat adult club. “We appreciate the fact that people don’t want to have any more bars and clubs on the (Mooloolaba) tourist strip,” Ms Satine said.

“We’re hoping for a favourable outcome from council, because the support has been like ‘yahoo!’.

“At the end of the day we want to establish a classy, discreet place where people can relax.”

Ms Satine said she was reluctant to discuss how the adult club would be different to other Sunshine Coast strip clubs because she wanted the project to have “maximum impact” if it was eventually approved.

“This is going to be something the Coast has never seen,” she said.

Ms Satine said she expected the adult club, which is named in the material change of use application as The Secret Door, would generate a lot of employment.

She said bar staff, floor staff, security, cleaners and courtesy drivers would all need to be hired.

Sunshine Coast Council has received dozens of submissions regarding construction of the proposed adult club.

A spokesman confirmed that the application would be discussed at a meeting in the near future.
