L.A. City Council to Vote on Lap Dance Issues

(LOS ANGELES, CA) — The Los Angeles City Council is set to vote today on the “no contact / 6 foot lap dance distance from stripper to customer” proposal. Local club owners and exotic dancers will be watching their local news all day as an extremely important devastating change for their future, may happen with one announcement.

TopProTalent.com received a copy of a letter sent to the local city council, signed anonymously by a dancer who works for Fourplay in West Los Angeles.

Dear City Council Members:

I am writing in regards to your vote on the ordinance proposing a six foot rule and no tipping in adult dance establishments.

I implore you to vote NO on this matter. If this ordinance were to pass, it will have a devastating effect on club owners, managers, wait staff, patrons and most of all, dancers.

I work at “Foreplay” in West Los Angeles and have for many years. I assure you that there is nothing lewd, degrading, hurtful or illegal going on in this place of business. At this club you will only find people making an honest living and trying to make a better life for themselves, their children and their future.

I am a full time student at UCLA and a single mom of a beautiful five year old daughter. If I were to lose the ability to work at this club, I would certainly not be able to afford my tuition for school or child care for my daughter. I am a dedicated member of my community and trying to do the best I can to provide a good life for my child as well as an education for myself. I pay my taxes and I am a voting citizen.

My story is NOT unique, in fact most of the women in these clubs are not party girls with low IQs. They are members of the PTA, on the Dean’s List of respected schools and/or paying medical bills for family members who can’t afford to do so.

Without the opportunities we’ve been afforded by working in these clubs, we couldn’t be or do any of those things. We will be certainly forced to seek government assistances to pay our bills and support our children or dreams, and then the community will feel the burden by having to support the many of us here in the City of Los Angeles, alone.

It seems very strange to me that with thousands of gang members running the streets, drug dealers hanging around school yards, Los Angeles’ financial debts, uninsured motorists and the ongoing illegal hang gun problems are city still faces on a daily basis, that the city council would even consider putting thousands of legitimate workers out of a job. I was under the impression we were trying to strengthen our economy and employment statistics.

I thank you for your attention on this matter and hope you consider all possibilities as you choose on this matter. Your vote will not only impact many hard working people, but most importantly, a five year old girl and a mother desperately trying to achieve an good education for a better future.

Sincerely,

(Unnamed) Dancer at Foreplay in West Los Angeles, CA
