Porn Valley- When Ann Marie switched her show to Wednesday nights on KSEX and thus took over Layla Jade’s time slot, I wondered what happened to Layla. Wonder no more. Jade these days has been working as one of the chief organizers of X-Con, an adult event which is going to be held this Sunday in downtown Los Angeles. And Jade tells me she’ll be back at KSEX but not just right now.
Another obvious question begging to be asked is whether this event is in some way a salvo being fired at adultcon which has gone a long way to alienate many of its former supporters. Jade said while there may be some obvious comparisons, that really wasn’t the case at all, that X-Con is a completely different event.
“This event has been in the pipe line for about the last 8 months,” she says. When it was suggested that it was a pretty well kept secret, if that was the case, Jade commented, “We never had the correct resources and correct people to do it. Everybody talks a good convention, but there’s a lot of work involved. This has huge potential but we’ve got to get the first one out. Now we’ve got a good crew involved.
“It’s a convention organized with the female talent in mind, and it’s nice to give something back to the girls in the industry,” Jade went on to say. “We don’t charge the girls to come to see the convention. We don’t charge for booth space. We don’t take commissions on anything they make. It’s basically for the girls to meet their fans, sell their merchandise and promote their websites. They can do whatever they want to do and come hang out. A lot of the conventions don’t give women in the industry an opportunity to make money.”
Jade goes on to describe which companies are currently on board and what performers are likely to be there Sunday to meet their fans. www.ljxxx.com/XXX-CON/stars.html “I think it’s going to be a pretty kick ass event,” she thinks.
And from the way Jade describes it, the event has about as much formality as a Mexican siesta. “The fans are going to get the chance to meet the girls in a real porn studio and hang out with them,” she notes. “There’s no booths and there’s no convention hall.”
Jade said there are large areas in the back of the studio where girls can essentially kick back on mattresses and hold court.
“It’s a casual, relaxed, friendly environment. It’s everything that every other convention isn’t.”
If all goes according to plan, Jade said X-Con could become a monthly event.
“We would like it to but at the very minimum it will be bi-monthly.”
Jade said the intent is to raise money for charity as well as the Free Speech Coalition. “Dennis Hof is going to give away a party at the Bunny Ranch in order to raise money for Adult Sites Against Child Pornography. They do so much good work. They get child porn sites shut down by the FBI. They’re fantastic.”
