A couple, who ran a pornography business in California, was sentenced today in federal court in Pittsburgh on charges of conspiracy to distribute obscene material.

This morning, a judge sentenced Robert Zicari to one year in prison. He was facing a maximum sentence of five years.

Investigators said Zicari’s wife, Janet Romano,[aka Lizzie Borden] appeared in the videos. She was sentenced to one year in prison as well.

Romano tearfully told judge during the sentencing, “I didn’t know making porn would destroy my life.”

The couple, who ran Extreme Associates Inc., was charged in August 2003 for the sale of inappropriate, violent material in the mail and on the web.

They pleaded guilty to the charge back in March.

The case was brought to Pennsylvania when investigators say postal inspectors working undercover were able to order videos from the company, which were then mailed to the Pittsburgh area.

The couple is being required to also serve time under supervised release.
