Alt starlet Lorelei Leigh is scheduled to host “Cookout for a Cause,” a fundraising event in Las Vegas on Thursday, October 15, to benefit local domestic violence resources.

The event, which will take place from 2–8 p.m., will direct all proceeds to a local domestic violence shelter. Guests are encouraged to bring donation items to assist individuals and families in meeting everyday needs as they rebuild their lives. Organizers have already secured more than $1,000 from anonymous talent sponsors who contributed without public recognition.

Event Details and Purpose

Lorelei Leigh expressed her desire for the event to unite the community. She noted that domestic violence is prevalent in sex work and stated that changing this situation begins with community action. Leigh emphasized her passion for supporting peers and assisting women who are still affected by the cycle of violence. She highlighted that food fosters community, conversation, and change, encouraging attendees to come hungry and bring something they enjoy eating.

The event is supported by Paysite, Urban X Awards, Project Reform 360, and Jay For You Healing. Dr. Trent Knewtson is providing the event venue. The specific location will be disclosed upon RSVP, which is mandatory for attendance. For donations or additional information, inquiries can be sent to [email protected].

The concept of a "Cookout for a Cause" has been utilized in other contexts. For example, a "Cookout For A Cause" event in February 2023 focused on raising awareness and funds for organizations supporting military personnel and their families. This type of event often involves selecting an organization, obtaining written permission to use their name and logo, and planning the event independently while potentially requesting materials or staff for an informational table. Partners may be chosen, and a menu planned, with the goal of ensuring that 100% of attendee contributions go to the charitable cause, often through sponsor and donation coverage of costs. Entertainment and activities are also common features to engage guests.

Another event, "The Cookout" by Associated Black Charities (ABC), was described as a celebration of Black culture, strength, and community. Held at Canton Waterfront Park on September 14, this event aimed to honor Black traditions, contributions, and spirit. ABC described a cookout in the Black community as a cherished tradition and a safe space for gathering, celebrating, sharing stories, and building bonds, characterized by anticipation from the grill, laughter, and unity. ABC's "The Cookout" was designed to amplify this tradition into a broader, more inclusive experience, inviting the entire community to share in the warmth, trust, and togetherness. This free, family-friendly celebration featured entertainment and activities for all ages, including a movement march and rally to demonstrate a commitment to equity, justice, and ABC's vision for the future.

In a different instance, a "cook out speak out" event was held to encourage a team to discuss mental health and create an open and safe environment for sharing experiences. During this event, the site team and subcontractors discussed various topics and shared ideas for improving site safety, while also enjoying a BBQ.
