XBIZ Awards and Renaming
The XBIZ Awards, which were renamed as XMAs Awards from 2025 onwards, are presented annually to honor individuals, companies, performers, and products that contribute to the growth and success of adult films. XBIZ publisher and founder Alec Helmy stated that the awards were created to provide an event that encompasses all facets of the business, presenting it professionally and honoring it with class. The awards have been compared to the international film and TV industry's Golden Globes.
Organized by the adult industry trade magazine XBIZ, the awards were first presented in 2003. Nominations are submitted by clients, and winners are determined by votes from XBIZ staff, industry colleagues, and participating organizations. Initially, the awards recognized achievements in the online adult industry, with video categories added in recent years. As of 2014, the number of specific award categories had expanded to more than 150.
