from www.indiewire.com – Last time we had two dueling biographical accounts of a figure’s life, we had the two Truman Capote pictures, “Capote” and “Infamous.”

This time, the subject is Linda Lovelace, the tragic star of the most successful pornographic film of all time, “Deep Throat,” who then went on to become an outspoken anti-porn activist. Lovelace was the subject of the 2005 documentary, “Inside Deep Throat,” but now a pair of biopics are in the works, with some relatively big names attracted.

One, currently without a title, from “Howl” directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman [Ed’s note: a very bad motion picture], has Kate Hudson attached as Lovelace, with James Franco circling the role of Chuck Traynor, her ex-husband, who she later accused of coercing her into porn through physical violence.

The other, the Black Listed script “Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story,” had another troubled starlet, Lindsay Lohan, attached for some time, until the unreliable actress was fired and replaced with “Watchmen” star Malin Akerman.

Now, Screen Daily report through an article on co-financiers Muse, that the film is gearing up to shoot in a couple of months and has landed Matt Dillon away from his Screen Gems hel. (see: “Armored,” “Takers”) to play the role of Traynor.

It’s certainly not the A-list combo that the other film seems to have, but it also seems to have financing, and more importantly a start date, so being first out of the gates may prove to the biggest advantage that the film has. Shooting starts on July 17th, so we’ll likely see it on the festival circuit in 2012.
