Porn Valley- AVN put out a press release today announcing that Dan Miller was being appointed editor-in-chief of AVN magazine effective immediately. Mike Ramone’s name is also mentioned as the previous editor. So unless Ramone has received a hefty promotion, one might assume that he’s been sacked.
“I know that he [Miller] will carry on the excellent standard that our previous Editor-in-Chief, Mike Ramone, set over the past six years,” states Paul Fishbein noing that he’s thrilled with the prospect of working with Miller.
Miller, according to the press announcement, was raised in Pittsburgh, and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Journalism. He has been a professional journalist for the past 11 years, including five-and-a-half years as a sportswriter for the East Valley Tribune in Mesa, Arizona. Prior to coming to AVN, Miller was a sportswriter for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune in West Covina, Calif., and managing editor of the Van Nuys Aviation and Business Journal. Miller was most recently editor-in-chief of AVN.com, a position in which he’ll remain.
On the other hand, there’s been rumor and speculation in recent weeks that Ramone had been approaching female performers for sexual favors. And recently his named was dragged into a story where he allegedly left porn performer Emily Evermoore an incriminating phone message. Evermoore has said little about the incident but has made no effort to hide the fact that AVN has been giving her extra publicity along with a spot in the upcoming awards show.
