ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A deputy standoff is over, but the investigation into a bizarre story has just started.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says the standoff started with a phone call to 911. Investigators say a 77-year-old man called 911 from a cell phone and told a dispatcher he had been kidnapped.
The man was not able to tell investigators exactly where he was being held, but he was able to describe his car, which he believed was parked outside.
Investigators started their search in a high crime area of Orlando.
They found the man’s car parked behind a house on 41st Street and Nashville Avenue, not far from I-4 and Orange Blossom Trail.
When deputies knocked on the door no one responded. Investigators set up a perimeter and demanded someone come out of the house.
Eventually, investigators say someone allowed them into the house.
Deputies say the 77-year-old man claimed he picked up a prostitute in this area 14 days ago and has been held at the house ever since.
At this point, none of the men are under arrest but they are being questioned by investigators. Investigators say the 77-year-old man’s credit cards have been used in the past 14 days.
