from www.samesame.com.au – Californian health experts are hoping to make condoms mandatory on the sets of porn films – but several LA porn stars say their monthly sexual health checkups are enough to protect them.
Jeremy Steele [pictured], who appears in straight porn productions where he has sex with multiple women, believes there is no way to make the porn productions risk-free.
“Making things safer does not make it safe,” he explained to the LA Times. “If you’re worried or paranoid, you should not be in this industry.”
An HIV outbreak in 2004 rocked California’s porn makers and led to debates over condoms which ultimately caused the American Medical Assn. to vote last month to support legislation which would outlaw porn sex filming without condoms.
Several leading gay porn producers and stars have joined the safer sex movement, including ChiChi LaRue and twink porn prince Brent Corrigan.
Recent medical research collated by the International Journal of Epidemiology suggests the risk of HIV transmission during anal intercourse may be around 18 times greater than during vaginal intercourse.
Meanwhile, a limited edition condom wrapper ‘Drill, baby, drill!! … just don’t spill’, inspired by the oil catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico, has been spotted in the US this week.
