from www.chron.com – A Spring ISD teacher’s aide has been accused of having sex with a student enrolled at Spring High School, officials said.

Katherine Alana Gricar, 24, was charged with improper relationship with a student on Feb. 13 for allegedly having sex with an 18-year-old female student who she was helping with her education, court records show.

Gricar was employed by Spring ISD and held a Texas Teachers Aide Certification. She originally met the mother of the high school student at Smith Elementary School, where they both worked. Because the two were friends, the teacher allowed Gricar to move into her home to help her 18-year-old daughter with school.

Investigators said the student’s mother had discovered the two had kissed and had caught the women alone with each other while they were locked in her daughter’s bedroom.

An investigation began into the improper relationship on March 18 when a Harris County Constable Precinct 4 deputy was called to the house because of a disturbance caused when the high school student told her mother she planned to leave home and live with Gricar.

Gricar told investigators that she left Smith Elementary School during her lunch hour on Feb. 13 and picked up the 18-year-old. She brought the teenager to her apartment where they had sex, she told Spring ISD police.

Gricar was arrested. She was released on a $30,000 bond.
