from www.nydailynews.com – A North Carolina daredevil was killed on Saturday after her paraglider slammed into a cliff over a nude beach in California, police said.

Pamela Hargett, 52, and her boyfriend were soaring over Black’s Beach, a secluded stretch of nude beach in San Diego, when she lost control and crashed into the Torrey Pines bluffs, police told the Los Angeles Times.

Her boyfriend called 911, and whe was airlifted to a hospital in La Jolla, where she was pronounced dead, the newspaper said.

The Torrey Pines Gliderport, which sits on the cliffs above the beach, is one of the major hang gliding and paragliding venues in the U.S.

Paragliders sit in a harness underneath a fabric glider or wing, as opposed to hang gliders, who are suspended horizontally beneath the wing.

The cliffs above the beach were the scene of a bizarre rescue last March featuring a naked hiker who became stranded and had to rappel down without her clothes.
