St. Louis- www.stltoday.com – A man from San Francisco and a woman from Ballwin are charged with rape, sodomy and promoting child pornography in a case involving the woman’s 13-month-old daughter, St. Louis County police say.
Charged are Kenneth M. Kyle, 46, of San Francisco, and Tessa L. Vanvlerah, 20, of Ballwin. She’s being held at the county jail in Clayton on $2 million cash-only bail, police say. In addition to rape, sodomy and promoting child pornography, Vanvlerah is charged with incest.
Kyle was being held in California on federal child pornography charges.
County police provided no details of the suspects’ alleged crimes but Terry Roberds, commander of the department’s Division of Criminal Investigation, said “the 13-month-old victim was rescued from this horrific situation and placed in the care of the state where she will receive proper medical attention.”
The charges resulted from a tip Tuesday, when the U.S. attorney’s office told detectives that Immigration Custom Enforcement agents were investigating Kyle for child pornography. County police said the agents suspected Kyle had traveled to St. Louis to contact Vanvlerah, whom he had met over the Internet.
Federal agents and county detectives went to Vanvlerah’s home, where an investigation led to the charges filed Wednesday.
Roberds commended the detectives and federal agents and said the case “exemplifies the cooperation between both agencies and the commitment to our victims, even those too young to ask for our assistance.”
