Playboy Enterprises Inc. has announced it will be abolishing its DVD branch and shifting all video content online. The closure of the DVD operations will cost around US$2 million in charges, and 80 jobs will be lost.
However, the move to the Internet will save the compaby about US$12 million annually. The DVD and Playboy Radio franchises have been running on less profit this year, compared to figures from last year.
The DVDs will be phased out over months as more and more Playboy video content appears online.
