Playboy Magazine Could Move To L.A.

from www.laweekly.com – We know — you’re thinking, Playboy already is in Los Angeles. Nope. That’s just Hef, who’s been known to approve proofs of the adult glossy from the comfort of his robe at home in Holmby Hills.

The bread-and-butter work on America’s nude-girl-next-door mag has been done out of editorial headquarters in Chicago, where Hugh Hefner started the thing in 1953 and where he established the original Playboy Mansion. But financial woes for the print industry have sent the company looking for a buyer. It already closed its New York offices, and the New York Post reports that editor Jimmy Jellinek [pictured] is a frequent flier to L.A., where he meets with the boss.

The Post reports that Chicago staffers had been “bracing for a move to the West Coast” for a while now because of a pending sale. But as the last deal fell through, rumors of a move cooled until recent weeks. “Relocation is back on the table,” the Post reports, although a mag spokeswoman denies it.
