Minneapolis- Minneapolis police, facing a civil lawsuit after an automobile accident involving Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin, defended their actions in a joint response filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis.

The suit asking $50,000 in compensatory damages states that the City of Minneapolis, police officers Daniel S. Anderson and Matthew Lindquist, and interim Chief Timothy Dolan violated the plaintiffs’ civil rights by failing to conduct a proper investigation regarding Griffin’s crash into their parked car at 601 University Ave. S. in Minneapolis early in the morning of March 30. The suit also alleges that Griffin was drunk and masturbating while watching a pornographic video on a DVD player in his vehicle.

In the response, the defendants admitted that an “adult video” was in the DVD player and that other such videos were found in the vehicle. The officers determined Griffin was not under the influence of alcohol, although the response did not indicate whether he was given a field sobriety test.
