Texas- Several teenage girls were just trying to watch their high school football game when they became victims of a pervert’s zoom lens. Police arrested the man they say took pictures of the girls’ bodies without their permission.
It’s perfectly legal to take pictures of anyone you want in a public place without their consent. But the law says when those pictures are sexual and meant to arouse desire you’ve crossed the line. One man’s accused of doing just that to young girls.
“That’s just gross to be that old, looking at minors,” says 13-year-old Jocelyn. She’s so creeped-out by what she saw; she doesn’t want her face shown.
She went to the Taft-Marshall game at Farris Stadium Saturday night to see her brother play football. She soon noticed a man with a large camera that wasn’t focused on the game.
She told her mom who saw exactly what the man’s zoom lens was pointing at.
“Girls would be getting up, and he was focusing in on them,” explained Jocelyn’s mom Dorothy.
Dorothy told an officer at the game, the police arrested Robert Thompson, 35, after checking his digital camera. They say he shot pictures of girls’ private areas.
Police then searched Thompson’s car in the parking lot and found some strange things: provocative pictures of young women, rope, a knife, stuffed animals and his business card promoting a porn website and magazine.
We looked up that website. It’s out of service, but the fact that it’s on Thompson’s card upsets Dorothy.
“Who can say which of these girls he’s already put out on a website, and they don’t even know,” Dorothy told WOAI.
Thompson is charged with improper photography and could face two years in a state jail if he’s convicted.
You may have seen Thompson at your own door. Police say he’s a delivery driver for pizza hut. Police say after Thompson delivered the pizzas he would write sexual comments on his receipts with their address, describing the female customers’ bodies in detail.
