New Bern, North Carolina- What goes around, comes around. After harassing him to the point of his filing a lawsuit against the city of New Bern and the police, Pure Bliss owner Greg Sakas got a phone call from the cops asking if he might make a donation to the dept.
“I told the person who was calling who was an officer that I wouldn’t mind giving them a donation even in this downturn in the economy,” laughs Sakas.
“But I told them I was spending all my additional money on my attorneys who are suing the city, his police chief and the two detectives who ended up confiscating all my material from the Pure Bliss store plus falsely arresting me. I told him if it weren’t for that, I’d be glad to give a donation. But I thought they could understand why I couldn’t afford it.”
Ironically, according to Sakas, within four hours of that phone call, two teenage kids tried getting into the adult section of his store.
Smelling a setup, Sakas could see two detectives across the street photographing the entire incident. Sakas, who makes a point of carding patrons of suspicious age, anyway, told the kids to pack up and get out, of course, taking pictures of them as well.
“I’m sure it was just a coincidence,” mused Sakas. “I certainly believe that the police wouldn’t stoop to something like that. I thought it was amusing. We are the most legal, squeaky clean of any adult store in this area.”
