from www.gather.com – Whatever else can be said about Robert Pattinson, he’s always full of surprises. Just when you think you’ve heard the last off-the-wall comment exit his lips, he comes up with one more. In a recent interview with the French magazine Les Inrockuptibles, the Twilight heart-throb revealed that he’s fascinated by porn. And not only with the industry and its finished products but also with the performers who act in them. In fact, RPattz says he greatly admires porn stars.
When asked if it was true that he “admired porn actors,” Rob laughingly replied: “I said that? I don’t remember that…”
He then went on, however, to discuss the subject at some length.
“The subject interests me,” Rob continued. “I’ve always wanted to do something around this subject. It’s one of the most interesting thing happening in our generation, don’t you think? Everybody watches it but don’t want to say it out loud. It’s heavy kind of event and no one wants to write about it. I tried to two years ago but it [didn’t] lead to anything. Did you ever watch the AVN (note: Adult Video News) Awards? It’s hilarious. There are so many of these people and they’re so proud of what they do … And when it comes to fighting for freedom of speech, they’re the first in line. We can only admire them.”
How refreshing to finally hear from an A-list celebrity, (with the exception of Charlie Sheen), who approaches the subject of pornography and, by extension, sexual freedom, in a rational, realistic manner instead of an hysterical one. It is even more interesting to hear that Rob has “always wanted to do something around this subject.” Does that mean Robert Pattinson might someday write or produce a film about the adult film industry? Even better, would he ever consider playing a porn star–in the right vehicle of course? That is, in a film that presented the industry in an unbiased and non-judgemental manner. A film antithetical to the ridiculous Boogie Nights.
Time may tell. Stay tuned.
