There are two very famous faces behind “The Great Porn Debate.” Porn star Ron Jeremy and pastor Craig Gross travel the country going to head to head and taking questions from the audience.

They were at Missouri State Wednesday night.

The ultimate question and the reason for the debate– porn, harmless or harmful?

While “The Great Porn Debate” made waves on the MSU campus, same place, a few hours earlier, much smaller debate between friends made ripples.

“It’s a horrible habit to get into. That it’s so easily accessed and you can type in the word porn into Google and there it all is for you… I think that’s awful,” says Shelby Brodland.

“I’ll watch it. I don’t have a problem with watching it at all,” counters Katie Schlimpert.

“I took classes with a kid who was going to school to run the camera and do everything to make porn,” explains Alexa Dunn.

“I don’t really think it’s that big of a deal,” Jasmine Franks tells us.

“I don’t think it’s right; I don’t think it’s right,” repeats Brodland.

“However you get your thrills,” Franks concludes.

The four friends and MSU students have about as much to say about the pornography industry as the pros– and no two opinions are alike.

“There are those times where you’re like not going to get what you want or need and porn is there and it’s accessible,” Schlimpert explains.

Accessible and- statistically speaking- appealing.

The porn industry brings in about $14 billion a year, and in 2004 it was estimated about 11,000 DVD titles were released annually.

Since then that number has likely dropped as free adult content on the web has gone up. Across the board demand remains strong- hence this tour.

Porn giant Jeremy and pastor Gross have packed houses at more than 50 universities and are now appearing in churches too.

The debate amongst our foursome doesn’t have near the following, but it has all the candor of the real deal.

“You can debate it forever but it’s not going away,” the group says.

If you didn’t recognize the two men, Jeremy has starred in more than 2,000 adult films; Gross started a Christian website which tries to help people struggling with pornography addiction.
