Porn Valley- New Sensations has a shoot scheduled Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Dillion Day is flying in for it. I hear that it’s a non-condom feature. I talked to Nicole London Saturday who said she heard the same thing from some of the talent who are supposed to be in it. London and I talk about the current state of the business. We talk about an article in AVN which apparently gave the mistaken impression that Dynasty was also infected. However that cow’s already out of the barn and, even with the retraction, some European sites had already picked up on it and reported it as fact.
London: I’m thinking to myself, this poor girl. I can imagine a lot of people reading this. I take a lot of things as rumor. I just got a phone call and I won’t say who it’s from- that three more girls tested positive. I said how do you know. They told me they ‘heard” it.
Gene: You’ll be hearing these stories all over the place.
London: This is going to be freaking people out even more.
Gene: That’s why you have to adhere to the doubting Thomas principle- unless you see it with your own eyes, it don’t count. Especially in this business.
London: Well at least they’re saying she’s not HIV positive. That’s a good thing.
Gene: But to even be on the quarantine list as you well know, marks you.
London: Yes it does. And it’s something that’s going to take a while after it’s over for a lot of people to say they’ll work with somebody. I know from experience. But it does go away. In this business everyone forgets. They’ll go, oh, it won’t happen again, blah-blah-blah. Then it will calm down again and everyone will forget again. Like the Marc Wallice situation.
Gene: I had heard that a whole bunch of companies were working this weekend.
London: Yes. You’ve got to be kidding me. Until this is straightened out, you guys have to- not that it’s a law- but I’m 100% believing in this two month-thing until all these tests come back. It’s not like the companies are like talent, day to day. Most of the companies have movies in the can waiting to be released. Companies can release comps. It’s not like they’re going to die because of this. If I’m a small company and can survive through this, I know damn well the bigger ones can. If they can’t they’re doing something wrong.
Gene: It comes down to the individual performers. They’re not going to be able to weather this. The way most of these girls handle their finances, they won’t last a day or two days.
London: The worst part about that is, come on, guys. You make so much money. How can you not have money put away.
Gene: You know it’s a fact.
London: I know. I was one of them. All this money is easy. And a lot of girls have advantages where they can go on the road dancing.
Gene: I think a lot of them are going to go on the road hooking.
London: And that makes it safer?
Gene: Well they’ll look at it as justification to pay the rent.
London: The one thing that amazes me is that you can’t do this forever. Especially now. The turnaround now is so much shorter than it was years ago. It amazes me how fast girls come and go. It wasn’t like that before.
Gene: It was a different industry before. We had an industry where we were making movies. Almost everything was a feature. It was a totally different product and it called for a totally different type of sexual activity. But gonzo has thrown this industry into complete and utter chaos.
London: I go into a lot of chat rooms. And it was interesting reading a lot of the posts yesterday. People are going they’re glad that features and storylines are coming back. I’ve been asked if I want to do gonzo lines and I really don’t Not now. I don’t see any reason for me to go and do these lines because there’s so many of them out there. I’m not about to shoot double-A’s and gagging. It’s my personal belief about sexuality. I don’t like shooting young girls. I don’t think they have what the older girls have. I’d like them to bring it out on camera and show that they’re enjoying it and not just going there to make their $800 bucks which a lot of them are doing. I also heard that Suze Randall is trying to put a meeting together.
Gene: And think that’s a faulty attempt because nothing gets accomplished at those meetings. They erupt into shouting matches and hissy-fit tournaments.
London: I was reading your interview with Jonathan. I was laughing because I specifically remembered everyone booing John Bowen.
Gene: He was the leading shooter of hard stuff at the time and he didn’t want anything to do with condoms. And everyone looked at him as the devil.
London: Yes. It’s a bunch of arguing and disagreeing and nothing gets accomplished. That’s the end of it. And God forbid that somebody says something that nobody else agrees with.
The funny part about it as I just sent an e-mail to the fund that Jenna and her husband set up asking a simple question. I think the fund’s a great idea. I think it’s an awesome idea. I wouldn’t mind donating to it. I just have one question: is it going to be only for talent or are they going to help the crew out? Because a lot of these crew guys only work adult. They don’t work mainstream. And these guys are working for $200 a day. It’s not like they’re making a $1000 a scene. Now if this helps the crew I’m 100% for it. If it doesn’t then I’m kind of iffy about it because talent makes enough money. Companies at least have a way of getting around this 60 day moratorium: they can put out comps. They make good money out of them.
Gene: Which also leads to another possibility. While this may not be the best example but a product line such as Evolution Erotica’s [www.evolutionerotica.com ] Ass Eaters Unanimous https://adultfyi.com/reviews.aspx is a good way of getting around this problem because it doesn’t feature sex scenes per se. This could be a time where people can come up with creative alternatives such as handjob lines or mutual masturbation lines.
London: Or a solo girl masturbation movie?
Gene: Those things don’t sell at all from what I hear.
London: I’m not personally shooting but there are things that can be done. As far as comps are concerned, that’s how these companies are making their money anyway. And these people are freaking out about not shooting for 2 months? Come on. If I can throw comps together and I have enough product to do that, I know damn well a lot of big companies can. It’s a simple thing. It’s only two months. But if this thing keeps going on and it spreads and it gets worse and it gets bigger, do they really want the government to come in and mandate things? I know I don’t. But maybe that’s what it’s going to take to open peoples’ eyes. Okay, here were are, but that’s really sad to say.
I was also interested about that one story on adultfyi.com concerning the possibility that Lara Roxx and Darren James worked together in Canada in February. Wouldn’t it be interesting to find out if Darren got it from her?
Gene: That’s an intriguing possibility. That would put a whole new spin on this thing because everyone’s thinking Brazil, Brazil. And then Mark Anthony put it out there that it might not have been in Brazil. He’s saying L.A., but it could also be the Canada scenario, if it’s true.
London: If they did shoot together in February that’s a very good possibility. I’ve been reading a lot of positive things about Darren. He’s really a good guy.
Gene: But if that Czech Republic story has one iota of fact to it then you’d be talking about murder charges. Case closed on homicide one.
London: That’s very true. But I hope not. What I know of Darren, that’s out of character for him.
Gene: But when you get hit with something like this, then out of character doesn’t hold water. You don’t know how you’re going to react.
London: Look at Marc Wallice. Prime example. He forged his test.
Gene: I still have a problem with some of the facts and timelines on that story. I saw that test and I’m thinking to myself how could he have forged it. Would you forge a test to say that you’re a 49 year-old female when you’re a 39 year-old male?
London: But how many people really look at those tests? Aside from that, a year prior to that incident I was in Jim South’s office. Jim had to get on the phone with Marc Wallice and bring him into the office for a talk. I happened to be there while this was going on. This was even before AIM was there. They were trying to figure out who was going to take care of the tests and I was helping Jim go through the tests. I remember someone in the office picking up Marc’s test and showing it to Jim. Lo and behold the lines didn’t match up. There were things on it that were messed up. He had to call Marc into the office. Marc admitted to Jim that he couldn’t afford to pay for a test. So what he had done was he photocopied it and did something to it. I turned around to Marc and told him that was the stupidest thing he could ever do. Marc used to be my favorite guy to work with and I told him he was on my “no” list from now on. And I never worked with him again. Thank God I didn’t. Jim then paid for a test for him and he did go in a get one. That one came up negative but that was a weird situation. But when a similar thing happened a year later, I was, oh my God.Gene: Today’s photoshop you’re able to do a lot of amazing shit.
London: I work on photoshop on a daily basis. I can go in there and change anything I want. My printers are so good it’s amazing.
Gene: It’s very conceivable that a lot of people could be doctoring their tests.
London: I know a lot of people come down on AIM and I don’t agree with everything they do but the industry is a lot safer now than it was 10 years ago. It may not be the greatest but at least she’s trying. I like the idea that producers can go directly on the website and we can check them.
Gene: The one thing that keeps annoying me are the statements about this being a multibillion dollar a year business. Support AIM so it doesn’t have to keep pulling rabbits out of its ass to keep going. That should be number one on the funding list. This is the lifeline of the adult business.
London: But the people that are making the money are the Time Warners.
Gene: Make ’em kick in.
London: But they don’t even want to admit they’re involved in it.
Gene: On this 60-day issue, the big guys are probably going to play this by the book like the Vivids and Wickeds but the smaller guys are going to attempt to fly under the radar.
London: We do a lot of work with Vivid and they had a huge ten-day shoot coming up and they called to tell us it was canceled. They’re pushing it until after this thing blows over. That is very cool. And they’re condom-only anyway.
Gene: All this is well and good. Say you’re stockpiled and have a bunch of new releases but somewhere down the line the effect of these two months is also going to be felt five or six months down the line. What happens when no one has releases to go out.
London: But that won’t happen. And I’m going to do the same thing. When I start shooting again I’ll just double my shoots. Instead of doing two movies in one month, I’ll do four. That already gets me back to where I need to be.
Gene: That’s smart business because you’re planning ahead like that. But not everyone is you.
London: If was going to spend that money next month for two movies, I’ll just keep it in the bank until I shoot the two movies. There’s no reason for me not to double up. It just makes more sense to me.And we’re getting so much press over this. The regular media has stepped in and they’re making it a big deal of this. I read something about Marc Wallice being the only one during that outbreak. No he wasn’t.
Gene: Four girls tested positive along with him.
London: Where do these people get their information from?
Gene: Another thing to bear in mind is that the adult industry took the initiative and made the announcement this week. It’s not like they’re trying to hide something but some of the mainstream media stories would give you the impression that someone got caught red-handed.
