Sasha Grey Has An Album Coming Out

from www.associatedcontent.com – Sasha Grey, along with her band, has an album coming out, further fueling questions such as, “Is there anything that Sasha Grey doesn’t do?” And, “Is there anything that Sasha Grey isn’t willing to try?”

While these questions have mostly been asked in much different contexts, the fact is that there really is nothing that Sasha Grey doesn’t have her, well, hand in. She is not only a modern porn star; she is defining what a modern porn star is (despite the fact that she is not a fan of 3D porn).

Sasha Grey is known primarily as a sort of indie porn star. Much like porn itself, an indie porn star is very difficult to describe, but you somehow know it when you see it.

Her fans and management position Sasha Grey as an artist. Actually, Sasha Grey is positioned in all sorts of ways in the literal sense. But her work as a porn star is somehow meant to be groundbreaking. I’m not entirely sure what about aspects of Sasha Grey’s performances as a porn star are ‘groundbreaking’, though at times in her movies it appears that some other things might break.

But she has certainly crossed over to other genres. While ‘crossover porn star’ is really the oldest, and at times saddest, cliché in the porn star book, Sasha Grey truly has crossed over.

Her role in Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience” was met with mostly positive reviews and certainly validated the claims that she was more than just a common porn star.

It seems that Sasha Grey is part of a band called aTelecine. aTelecine is a ‘noise’ band and this will be their debut album. Noise music is probably best described as a new-agey and sparse sound that incorporates electronica, feedback and synthesizers.

Apparently, Sasha Grey sings and plays some of the instruments on this album.

What’s really ironic here is that Sasha Grey’s participation on this particular album is probably less mainstream than her participation in the porn industry. That’s right. The porn industry not only has far more fans than the ‘noise music’ industry, but dirty movies are also much more easily relatable than noise music to most.

At this point, porn is about as mainstream a thing as there is. People openly talk about watching porn now when even ten years ago it still had a stigma to it.

So could this be the first instance of a porn star crossing over to a more marginal form of entertainment? Given her reputation as being a groundbreaking porn star, Sasha Grey might be doing just that with this new album.
