from www.nydailynews.com – A Seattle Mariners outfielder was stabbed to death in the Netherlands Monday, allegedly by his own brother.
Greg Halman, who joined the Major League team in 2010 after years in the minors, was born in the Netherlands and played baseball there during the off-season, according to Reuters.
“A 24-year-old died this morning in a stabbing and we have arrested the 22-year-old brother of the victim,” a Rotterdam police spokesman told Reuters.
NOS-TV in the Netherlands reported that Halman’s family confirmed his death. The brother’s name was not immediately available.
Greg Halman had conducted coaching clinics for youngsters in Europe and helped the Netherlands win the 2007 European Baseball Championship.
