LINCOLN (AP) — A western Nebraska lawmaker wants to restrict sexually oriented businesses he says are too common in the eastern part of the state, including Lincoln.
On Tuesday, Sen. Mark Christensen of Imperial introduced a bill (LB443) in the Legislature that would prohibit sexually oriented businesses being established in certain areas. The businesses include strip clubs and novelty shops.
They couldn’t be within a quarter mile of child-care businesses, schools, homes, public playgrounds, recreational facilities or churches.
The bill would also restrict the conduct inside strip clubs. Strippers would have to stay at least 6 feet away from patrons.
Also, no sexually oriented activity such as stripping would be allowed after 11 p.m.
